Frequently Asked Questions

Are you still working with Student Life?

Student Life is just one of many ministries under the CCCA umbrella. I will be stepping out of Student Life and working with the CCCA National Director (Bill Hodgson). I am still working with CCCA, but in a different assignment outside of Student Life.

Will I be working on campus?

Most of my time will be spent off campus in the National Office. However, I will still be regularly visiting campuses, student events and resourcing Student Life missionaries.

What determines the amount of money that a CCCA missionary needs to raise?

Each missionary creates a budget based on their unique circumstances. CCCA places a minimum and maximum limit on the amount of monthly financial support a missionary can raise. My current TMN (Total Monthly Need) is $4,700. This covers my financial package, ministry expenses, tax, superannuation, etc.

Is it better to give one-off gifts or monthly donations?

One-off gifts are a huge help when my support account is low, but monthly donations are usually preferred as they count towards my TMN (Total Monthly Needs).

How long do you need financial support for?

I am committed to work with CCCA for an indefinite amount of time so my financial support needs are ongoing.

Why don’t you work another job for extra support?

Just like a church pastor, my role as a missionary with CCCA is a full-time position. Some missionaries choose to work part-time with CCCA, but this is often impractical. For example, missionaries travel a lot for short-term missions, conferences, and need to be available at odd hours.

CCCA has a policy that full-time missionaries are not allowed to work in other jobs as this can be distracting and there is a good chance that time conflicts will emerge.

What percentage of donations goes to a missionary?

Donations are technically given to CCCA, who then allocates these funds to a missionary’s support account. CCCA levies 10% to run the National Office and the rest is used to pay the missionaries stipend, ministry expenses, etc.

Are donations tax deductible?

Donations towards my work with CCCA are NOT tax deductible.

Can I give via a website?

Unfortunately, CCCA does not have an online giving system yet. But we are working on one. My new role will involve developing infrastructure such as this which will help resource missionaries in the field. In the meantime we have a Ministry Partner Form which is used to make donations.
